Many administrative and academic buildings and offices require a valid PennCard for access at certain hours. Contact the department or building administrator for more information.

A valid PennCard is also required to enter all campus residence halls. At certain times of the day, residence hall doors are locked and access is limited to building residents.

Guest passes are available from the reception desks of all buildings, are valid for up to 4 days at a time, and will allow the guest into a host building when accompanied by a PennCard holder. Guest passes are only issued to hosts who live in that particular residence hall. Hosts must present a PennCard to verify their residency. Call 215.573.DORM or visit the Housing Services website.

Admission to the Institute of Contemporary Art is free with a valid PennCard. Visit the ICA website.

Penn faculty, staff, and students must show or swipe a valid PennCard to enter many of the Penn libraries. A valid PennCard may also be required to borrow books, use reserve materials, use a library's computer labs, etc.

Access to University libraries is generally unrestricted, but a valid PennCard must be shown. However, access policies vary by library and may change during reading and exam periods. Restrictions on access to a particular library may be necessary because of seating limitations, reduced staffing levels or for reasons of security and safety. Call 215.898.7555 or visit the website.

Free to members. Students, faculty and staff of the University of Pennsylvania are admitted free with a valid PennCard. Call 215.247.5777 or visit the Arboretum website.

Admission to the Penn Museum is free with a valid PennCard. Visit the Penn Museum Website.

Penn Transit operates a variety of transportation services for members of the University community, including students, faculty, staff and their families. These comprehensive services have been developed to provide effective, efficient, and safe integrated transit on and around campus within specific service boundaries.

Transit services are free of charge to all University of Pennsylvania community members holding a valid PennCard. All riders must show their valid PennCard to the driver upon entering the vehicle. Drivers will refuse entry to any person not showing a valid PennCard.

Those riders whose PennCards have been lost, stolen, or forgotten will need to call 898-RIDE from a Transit Stop or from their residence to obtain permission to use the system. Valid PennCard holders may be accompanied by up to two (2) guests provided prior approval (call 215.898.RIDE) has been obtained. Call 215.898.RIDE or visit the Penn Transit website.

A valid PennCard is required to use all recreation facilities and services, including access, lockers, towels and to purchase membership. Call 215.898.6100 or visit the website.
